864FC had a great night of fights on February 16th at the Marriott in Spartanburg, SC. Let’s take a look at how some of those fights went down.
The night kicked off with Taylor White, an up and coming star, making her debut fight. Taylor met Juli Levine in the cage for an exciting beginning to an awesome night of fights. Taylor gets the TKO stoppage in the 1st round bringing her record to 1-0. What a way to start the card!
Secondly, we saw Nedel Higuera go up against Paul Johnson after stepping up in weight just to take this fight. Higuera used his wrestling skills to get the job done with a 3rd round decision in his favor. Going into the 3rd fight of the night, we watched John Wood and Joshua Marer go at it with a hard fought back and forth between two gamed opponents but Wood gets it done by submission with a rear naked choke. As you can see, this fight card did not lack for action! Last among the amateurs, we saw Chaz Fowler battle it out with David Ayala. Fowler put forth relentless pressure against Ayala that resulted in a TKO referee stoppage due to strikes in the 3rd round.
Now for the pros…..
This action began with Anthony Canzano continuing on with his winning ways against Levi Lucero. Anthony was true to form and showcased his well rounded skill set and determination to accept the fight wherever it took him. Canzano comes out a winner with a submission guillotine choke in the 1st round. Although this fight was definitely exciting, it lead the way into some serious fireworks in the 2nd pro fight of the night with Robert Hale taking on Ryan Jett. It seemed that both fighters wanted to make it a point to keep it standing as they delivered power punch after power punch for all 3 rounds ending with Robert Hale as the victor by unanimous decision. It was clear that the pros were in rare form and the crowd watched with anticipation as the 3rd pro fight of the evening began. Kennith Porter aka “Kenny Porter,” another featured fighter on the rise, took on Edgard Hernandez, showing the world that he is the one to watch as he gets a KO in the 1st round.
It’s Not Over…………..
Now for the co main event of the evening! Justin Sumter meets Roger Carroll, a vet in the sport who came to bang despite the age difference and he did just that in an impressive battle. Sumter continues his winning streak by defeating Carroll in a 3 round unanimous decision. Justin Sumter is now on a 6 fight win streak looking like his rise to the top is going to be a journey to watch.
Finally we have reached the event that you all came to see. Tanner Saraceno takes on Kedrick Harris. As we well know, Tanner’s goal is to go down as a legend in the sport of MMA and with a referee stoppage due to strikes in the 1st round, he proved that he is on the right track.
864 Fighting Championship is definitely on the rise as they continue to put on great fights, with this one being only the 2nd event for this promotion. The landscape is looking promising and we can’t wait to see what they will do for their March card. It is already looking like it’s going to be a great night of fights with their main event being Cody Wilson, a hometown favorite, taking on Dominic Waters, a UFC vet. It just doesn’t get any better than this!
